So, the first two official complete weeks of my summer gave me insight to what the next two years will be like...
This is a basic day of teaching and then going to school, with a focus on the specifics of my first day.
I began July 9th at 7am headed to work at Warner Robins Middle School for the teacher orientation for Summer Remediation for 8th graders who failed the CRCT. I arrived at 7:30am only to discover I did not need to be there until 8am. We did not even begin until 8:30am with the introduction. All of the teachers took turns introducing themselves saying their name, home school where they taught at, and what their goal was for the next two weeks. Most teachers said their goal was to help students to exceed their expectations and pass the CRCT. I said I was going to help the students see their struggling areas and get past their struggles so they could succeed. Then we went on about our day learning what we would be teaching for the next two weeks. I finished at 3pm at work.
By the time I finished work, I had just enough time to go to the house to change clothes, let the dogs out, and make a snack for dinner before I was headed to work out at the gym. I worked out for about 30 minutes, from 3:30pm-4pm. I ran on the elliptical for about 20 minutes and lifted weights working on my legs and mid-section.
Then I headed to school in Macon at 4pm. I arrived around 4:30pm and walked in to class where most of my classmates were already seated. I sat down and opened up my notebook. I realized that night that I needed to bring my laptop from now on because I can type faster than I can write. Some days we get out at 7pm or 7:30pm and other days we get out at 9pm.
By the time I get home, I am so exhausted I usually fall asleep on the couch. Jeremy has to either wake me up, or carry me to bed most nights. He is my Knight in Shinning Armor!! He is so sweet and often lets me sleep on the couch for an hour or so, because he doesn't want to wake me up.
Those days are over for now... At least until my birthday, when I have to go back to work. What a birthday present! HA! So, I am very thankful for my days this summer where I just have to go to school and not work too!

My eyes have been opened...
I hate that we couldn't see my cousins today. I really wanted to see them, considering we don't come down to Florida but MAYBE once a year. When I called my cousins to ask if we could come see them, they said no because they have homework and laundry to do... I don't think homework and laundry is enough of an excuse for us not to see family when we are here for such a short time. I do look forward to seeing my cousins in June when my other cousin gets married... But this death with Teri has really opened my eyes to taking advantage of every opportunity I have to see my family. What if something happens and them and my counsins aren't here in June?? We aren't guaranteed tomorrow... I haven't seen these cousins in 3 years and I really was wanting to just see them at least long enough to hug them and tell them "I love you." I'm not trying to throw a guilt trip at them, I emailed them online and tried to explain where I'm coming from so they can understand where I'm coming from. I'm really upset that we couldn't come see my cousins, when there was NO excuse not to. It REALLY irritates me!!! We are really and truly NOT guaranteed tomorrow... we don't know what will happen. JUNE was when I THOUGHT I would see Teri again... And we all see how great that turned out... It made me cry because I don't know if I will see them in June... God's Will always prevails... We never know what the future holds. Ugh.

My cousin... she was like a sister... Teri Marriage
Teri... She was so brave. She never gave up hope, she never let her guard down. She was always positive, always up beat. I remember her saying "I don’t want anyone who isn’t up beat at the hospital with me." She always had the best possible outlook in life. In every situation, she found the positive happy side to things. She always said "don’t worry, it’s gonna be ok." When I couldn’t make her wedding one month ago, she said "don’t worry about this one. In two to three years, we’re gonna have another one that’s gonna be huge. I’ll have long hair again and you can come to that one." I guess there won’t be another one in a few years... Last night felt so surreal. Then this morning came, and I just went into shock.
Teri and I always got along. When we were kids, we’d all hang out at MaMaLu’s house and plan a "show" and "sell tickets" to our parents so they could come and watch. We would do "magic tricks" on the swing on the back porch.
Then when my family and I moved to GA, we found out that Teri and her family came to Warner Robins every Thanksgiving. My first year in Warner Robins, GA for Thanksgiving we went to Uncle Warren’s house. We planned a "Haunted House". Erin, Lisa, Teri, Mel, Bob, Kelly, a few other cousins and me cooked spaghetti noodles to put on the plastic tarp to be "brains". We used the marker board to write our ideas down that would "spook" our parents when they walked through the "Haunted House". The second or third year, Uncle Warren moved to the Brantley. We went there for Thanksgiving again and we had a blast. All of us cousins went upstairs to play a game. I don’t remember the name, but one person was "it" and we were all in one room. We’d turn the lights out and if you were touched, then you were out and had to fall to the ground. It sounds silly, but it was so much fun! We were almost guaranteed to see Teri and her family just about every Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving of 2006 is the last time I saw Teri. She came up with her fiance Ehren and his two children. I can’t even imagine how heart broken they are to lose Teri. They all came up with Teri’s parents to visit. We all ate dinner at Mel’s house that night. Mel’s step children put on a "show". Just like we used to. They sold tickets and everything! If anybody had a cell phone, they were video taping the performance! It brought us all back to when we were kids together. We had so much fun, and they were too.
My cousin Erin, Teri’s sister, is getting married in June. I can’t imagine how difficult it will be for her and Albert... That is the next time I thought I would see Teri. I was really looking forward to it. Now the next time I will see her is in Heaven... At least she isn’t hurting anymore. I hear she was in so much pain. I hate that she went to fast, but then again if she didn’t, she would have suffered more than she deserved. Even when things were tough, Teri had the best confidence that everything was going to be ok. She always had a smile on her face. She had no shame. She loved posting pictures of her head tattoos. Every picture I saw of her, she had a smile on her face. So brave. If I ever have to go through something like that, I hope I can have the happiness and strength that I saw in Teri. She was an amazing woman!
I love you Teri! I will never forget you! I miss you so much!

Wedding Planning...
So, I haven't posted in a W-H-I-L-E. Alot has happened!
During the past few months, I have been planning for the day I marry Jeremy, our wedding! While it's exciting and great and gonna be the best day of our lives, planning is so stressful!! I have been trying to keep my bridesmaids in line as far as getting them to certain bridal showers, making sure they get their dresses altered, asking them to address invitations, etc. Yesterday, I got a wake up call from my Momma. She called me yesterday afternoon while I was putting away miscelaneous wedding gifts at Jeremy's house. She told me: "there is a whole list of things we haven't gotten to yet and we need to do them tonight!" So I said: "ok, let's hop to it! If there are things that need to be done, we'll get them done." So Momma and I went to Hobby Lobby and just about bought them out of their black and white 11x14 mats(sp?) for our 8x5 pictures, and we completely bought them out of their pink 11x14 mats. Then we headed to Walmart and bought them out of something that I can't say because some of my bridesmaids might read this and find out... hehe. Anywho, then we bought ribbon to tie around the bottles of bubbles...
Side story:
Jeremy called me yesterday when he got off work. He asked
how my day went and I asked how his day went. He asked what
I was up to for the night. I told him Momma and I had a
list of things to get done for the wedding but I only knew
of one thing for sure that we needed to get. We needed to
get ribbon to tie around the bubbles. He said: "ribbon to
tie around the bubbles? I'd love to see that trick!" I
didn't get it at first. I replied: "What do you mean? We
take the ribbon and tie it around the bubbles." He
said: "I'd love to see that trick!" Then it clicked... I
said: "We are going to tie a ribbon around the bottles of
bubbles!" Haha. He and I had a good laugh over that!
So, yesterday was a very busy day. When we went to Walmart, we went to the one in town. We went to go get white 11x14 mats because we couldn't find enough at Hobby Lobby. Well, they were asking $3.49 per mat! Yikes! Also, that Walmart had 1/2" white curling ribbon but we needed 1/8" white curling ribbon. Momma said she saw the same mats at the other Walmart (the one closer to my house) and they were $2.49 per mat. So we bought what we needed from that Walmart and headed to the other Walmart... Haha. Pretty bad when we have to go to both Walmart's in the same town! We headed to that Walmart... and they were not only $2.49, but there were two mats in each package!! Had we known that, we would have bought all of them at that Walmart instead of at Hobby Lobby. What a deal! Eh, oh well, ya learn somethin new everyday! Also, that Walmart had 1/8" white ribbon. We bought 30 yards.
So we came home, pulled out the ribbon, saw that it wasn't curling ribbon and started to play around with whether we wanted to tie it in a knot on the bottles or tie it in a bow. Momma tied it both ways and it looked great in a bow when it was tied right. But tied in a knot didn't look so pretty. About ten minutes of tying ribbon around bottles, Momma decided she would go buy the curling ribbon today so we can tie it and curl the ribbon for it to look pretty in a knot. So, all that going to two different Walmart's and we didn't even get the correct ribbon! Ah, the joys of wedding planning! Momma and I agreed last night that in about a month, we'll be able to look back and laugh at it but not before then!

Things that can go wrong at work...
So, I'm the "answering service" for Mom's salon today. Little did I know, when I got here, there would be multiple things to take care of... more than the usual. Normally when I come up here to answer phones when Mom and Mel are out of town, I answer the phone, put info in the database, make appointments, and file paperwork. Today, I've had to deal with more than that....
First, I got here and there was a note saying:

So, I tried to close out the machine and it wouldn't work for me either. So I call mom. She says to call Tommy, the guy who takes care of our machine. He said to call the 1-800 number to talk to a person to get the problem fixed. So I called and got to this automated system where it was telling me to enter in a credit card number. I hung up and tried again. Same thing happened. So I called Tommy back. He told me what to listen for. 3rd time's a charm! I finally talked to the person at the company to fix our machine. He had to fix it twice... once for the credit card to go through, twice for me to close it out from yesterday. Oy!
With that out of the way, I decided to break down the protein. Got that done no problem. Then I realized I had to deposit a check and the bank is only open until 1pm on Saturdays. So I printed out a note that said:

But, after I set the alarm and locked the door... I realized from the outside, my note looked like this:

So, I left it like that while I ran (literally ran because it's next door) to the bank. I came back, unlocked the door and went to turn off the alarm. Apparently, I pressed the wrong button... the alarm went off!! I sat there pressing the code until finally it shut off. Man, that thing is intense! The security people called the salon and I had to give them the code word to let them know that I'm just an idiot and pressed the wrong button.
Man oh man! What a day! And it's only noon... Hope y'all have a great day!!

Engagement pics!!
So, Erin is the best photographer ever! Jeremy and I had Erin take our engagement pictures on Saturday, August 11, 2007. The pictures came out so well! I love them! I'm really excited about all this wedding planning. About 5 months from now, I'll be married!! I can't wait! Well, here are a few pics that I picked out to post. I can't wait to see the rest when Erin is done.
Ok, just kidding... I can't post pictures until photobucket is done doing maintenance to the site. Oh well. Keep checking for pictures to be posted!
ok... here are my favorites and Jer's favorites...

Quotes...
New quotes I came up with because of work tonight...
I'm not listing details or names or anything. I'm just venting.
1. Don't get mad at me when I tell you I don't know the answer. We're both adults here, let's act like adults. Especially since you're older than me.
2. If I don't know the answer now, I'm not gonna know the answer in 2 seconds, so don't ask.
3. Don't put words in my mouth.
4. Don't apologize for getting mad at me and then get mad at me again... a second after you apologized.
5. I hate those kind of situations!
