Microwave Popcorn...

So, I'm at work and I went to the vending machine to buy microwaveable popcorn. I bought it and realized after it was done that I didn't pop all of the kernels. So I was looking on the bag and it said "Do not reuse to pop unpopped kernels."

I looked it up online and found:
Paper products and fire

Anantheswaran says consumers never should use paper towels, plastic wraps or wax papers that are not clearly marked as microwave safe. He also warns that some microwave packages shouldn't be heated more than once in a microwave oven.

"Sometimes consumers may reuse a microwave popcorn bag, but these materials are not meant to be reused," he explains. "Popcorn bags contain a special layer of material at the bottom called a susceptor, which absorbs microwave energy and enhances popping performance. Once the popcorn bag is used the susceptor will lose its ability to safely react to microwave energy. If it is reheated, the changes in the susceptor can cause it to burn."

Anantheswaran also warns that fast-food products wrapped in metal foils can cause sparking, which can ignite the paper bags used to package a take-out order.

I'm so glad I looked that up! Otherwise, I would have caught the bag on fire in the microwave at work!!

i just re-nuked a bag of unpopped kernels and it turned out fine... I read the warning just now and was concerned about leaching of toxins, similar to reusing water bottles, but haven't found any info on that. If the only danger is fire, I'm A-OK!
